The world of work is undergoing profound transformation. Artificial intelligence, automation and robotics are reshaping occupations and workplaces, while demographic change, the green transition, new forms of employment and changing expectations around skills, equality and well-being are raising broader questions about the future of the human workforce.
The Second International and Interdisciplinary Conference – The Future of the Human Workforce brings again together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and representatives of European institutions to discuss these transformations from different disciplinary and professional perspectives. Rather than approaching the future of work as a purely technological question, the conference considers how technological, social, economic, and institutional changes interact, and what they mean for workers, organisations, and societies.
The contributions collected in this Book of Abstracts reflect this interdisciplinary approach. They address topics ranging from artificial intelligence, robotics and automation to employment relations, occupational safety, skills, the green transition, and human–technology relations. Together, they invite us to consider not only how work is changing, but also how we want to shape that change and what kind of human workforce we want to develop for the future.
The conference is organised within the framework of the TRANSFORM project, funded by the European Union under the CERV-2023-CITIZENS-CIV programme.
We warmly thank all authors, speakers, moderators, committee members, project partners and participants for contributing their knowledge and perspectives to this shared discussion.
