Publishing Policies
The publishing activities of the Faculty of Organisation Studies in Novo mesto (FOŠ) are based on the principles of research integrity, publication ethics, quality, professional independence, open science, and transparency of publishing procedures.
FOŠ publishes works in print and electronic formats in the fields of education, professional practice, and scientific research. These include textbooks, course materials, professional and scientific monographs, conference proceedings, periodicals, and other FOŠ publications. The type of each publication is determined in accordance with the COBISS Typology of Documents/Works.
In the preparation and publication of works, particular attention is given to the principles of originality and authenticity, transparency of the research process, proper citation of sources and attribution of authorship, responsible management of research data, and impartiality and confidentiality of the peer-review process. Authors are responsible for the originality of their work and for the correct citation of sources and attribution of authorship. Submitted works must not contain plagiarism or other forms of research misconduct. Appropriate software tools for detecting text similarity may be used to verify originality.
In its publishing activities, FOŠ follows international guidelines and good practices in scholarly publishing, in particular the recommendations of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics). In cases of suspected breaches of research or publication ethics, the matter is handled in accordance with established guidelines on publication ethics.
Peer Review and Quality Assurance
Professional and scientific publications must be peer reviewed and language edited. Each professional or scientific publication must undergo at least two separate professional or scientific reviews.
The Publishing Committee proposes reviewers and language editors and obtains their prior consent. Reviewers are generally experts holding the same or a higher academic title than the author of the publication. The author or editor of a publication may not simultaneously act as its reviewer. Review reports are forwarded to the author or editor, who is required to take the reviewers’ comments and recommendations into appropriate consideration. In the event of negative review reports, the publication process is discontinued.
Open Access and Long-Term Accessibility
FOŠ promotes open access to scientific and professional publications and research results whenever legal, ethical, and contractual conditions permit. Electronic publications are generally published in open access. Open access is provided in accordance with applicable legislation, open science guidelines, and the rights of authors and the publisher.
FOŠ promotes the use of persistent identifiers, such as DOIs, which enable unique identification, long-term accessibility, and reliable citation of publications, as well as their inclusion in national and international information systems, repositories, and bibliographic databases.
Electronic publications are preserved in the FOŠ digital environment, in the national system for the long-term preservation of electronic materials, and in a selected repository. The FOŠ Library participates in obtaining CIP records, bibliographic processing, and the submission of legal deposit copies of publications.
Research Data
Where a scientific monograph is based on research data, authors must ensure that the data are appropriately documented and preserved in accordance with the FOŠ Research Data Management Regulations. Where possible, research data, or at least their metadata, should be publicly available in a trusted repository.

The publication process is carried out in accordance with the FOŠ Publishing Activities Regulations (SA-FOŠ-026) and includes the following steps:
